Woken in night by dream with shooting. Then again. Stay in dream. Wake after weird dream at 8.41 then 9.41. Get up, clear up kitchen. Robert says about Derren Brown book. Have meeting with Toni at EPIC. Really great get good plan going forward. Mention EPIC fund and OCCA.
Cook breakfast then watch Independent SAGE. Shows how UK government bought 3 x vaccine supply we need and blocking IP waiver so other countries can’t get patent to make own vaccine. Genetic surveillance. Toni replies need to do quiz and go to shos. Vicky messages to sy Moth and Moon (“off and moving” by Dragon Dictate). Mortal engines. So I chase pubs round Moth and Moon, Palacio, Seaview, Jake’s. Meet at mine for sunset on balcony. Seagulll kipping.
Saturday 24th April
Had 5 hours sleep as talked to Claudia til 3am. Get ready to talk to Pete. Wifi not good in my room. We discuss getting reliable info. Pete recommends Economist for Covid info. Pete says Indie Sage probably “anti-gov”. India and Spain making own vaccines. Don’t need to rely on UK patent. Pfizer and Astra Zeneca not UK, we bought doses. Go to swim with Patsy. Big circle of sludge. Drink at Boathouse and go to Eric’s wine etc.
Sunday 25th April
Wake up hot. Note dream. Maybe this diary needs an audience to be less boring? What would I want to tell my mum? Find I an tell most of my thoughts. Or are there things I do not dare to write? I need to maybe say these to someone and imagine their responses? That would make an interesting diary. Writing trivial who did what is self-indulgent and very boring. What am I not saying? What do I feel, which cannot be said?
Monday 26th April
Dear Boris? Write diary as if talking to someone who SHOULD listen to intelligent, sensible people. I’m a journalist and want to…? Made arrangement to go to beach with Jessica. She said going for walk and didn’t hear back rest of day. Did bits of writing. Little hangover from Sunday evening at Lemon Twist. Managed to find great films to watch. Oh yawn. Watched Call to Spy, real story of women going to occupied France to help resistance efforts against Nazis. Made me feel how cowardly and selfish we are today compared to the sacrifices and bravery during the war. People blocking communication, not being able hear certain things. Found good article on misinformation good source for dystopian story idea.
Tuesday 27th April
Arranged beach day. Jessica said on a walk with Andy, later on said day gone belly up, having a beer and sitting on sock platform. Made me think of Punch and Judy show between two plain domestic socks. Took swimming stuff and drove to beach. Jessica and Andy on beach. Andy asked “why did you take vaccine” but I’m not really allowed to answer. He went and Jessica and I say on top in front of beach huts and drank red wine. Messaged Patsy who said would join us at 5.30pm for swim. Almost high tide. I swam around buoy. Wrapped up warm. Patsy said coming so Jessica went. Got number for Gail to rent hut. Went for another swim, Patsy dropped me home. Had hot shower. Caroline (something I can’t read as ink ran out).
Wednesday 28th April
Meeting with Anneke today. Got up, did some writing and made good breakfast. Cooked steak from Riverford. Call with Anneke good. Updated on app and marketing strategy Said her husband worked in AI and she had AI company. Talked about sexism, creativity and inclusion. She has a needlework website. (Etsy community) and I told her about Claudia and struggles with Hootesuite. Anneke said to introduce. Later on I all Claudia and tell her about opportunity. I feel uncomfortable to be on phone for so long and want to send email. Claudia describes the exact situation I need to speak to in app or book. If can persuade people with budget to get micronutrients without high GI carbs could do a lot. Combinations are key.
Thursday 29th April
Independent SAGE invited me to ask women’s vaccine dose Q. Then asked if I’d ask a track and trace question. Say yes and send one. Get reply from Toni at C’an Jurat in Ibiza. He got an answer for parents’ visit to hotel being built. Turns out to be Tenerife Plaza Megano Tenerife Sur.
See online. Buyer for 22 Albany emails. Said trouble getting mortgage. Mention lease surrender and regrant. Pete calls said say be idea to buy, turn back into family home. Feel overwhelmed by my life being hijacked. Further research shows a separate flat is higher sale value than whole house. Market not supporting families with lots of rooms. Families smaller? Rent too high for couple. Need tenants. Houses don’t allow HMOs. Watch Dragon’s Den and This is My House.
