Swimming in Cornwall after World War 2
Friday 19th March
Woke up at Eric’s at 9am. Eventually got up and went home. Had email for EPIC so filled it in. Paid DVLA car tax. Did census. Eric calls to say left curry leftovers and would drop over. Robert and I go through playing card packs naming cards. I get 44/52. Robert carried on building bookcase he started on Thursday evening. Put all books in height and subject order. Started reading The Good Citizen about relatives in New Zealand, discovered in 2015. My new tenant has same name as the mother of this family. Must ask what she knows about Ryans. Read til 11pm. Robert completed shelf. Did quiz at 11pm. It was trivia by Leigh. Said found it hard if questions were value as already difficult to remember info. Claudia has still got COVID.
Saturday 20th March
Had weird dream Planned to note it but forgot by time did it. Woke at 9am. Spoke to Pete. Good conversation about lazy politicians. Pete said Madrid 8 degrees and still very cold and crowded in gym. I start reading old book about Bristol and mentions of Aldworths who were mayor from Tudor Times to 1800s. Find out lineage of family using trees written into family Bible.
Sunday 21st March
Dreamt about cities and bombs. Entry from this date in Luci dream app: “second part: I went to write dream down. Was in Los Angeles. Was in restaurant when building is bombed. We decide to go home. It is pitch dark in smoke. We get back to the place staying and there are children playing in snow. Something about trousers. Headphones. Hear announcement. There is a bioattack”
Woke up and cooked full breakfast with steak and omelette. Don’t eat anything else ‘til evening with Eric. Spent afternoon sorting through boxes of photos. Find more dad and mum in Ibiza. Dad’s family holidays with his parents. Cooked chicken and Eric came over. Didn’t play Monopoly. Robert practiced cards and I watched TV.
Monday 22nd March
Dreamt about university canteen and Robert wanting to rent room in Penryn. No one believes his name. Woman plays guitar. Woke up at 9am. Go and apply for comedy job via Linkedin. It goes to error so have to rewrite supporting evidence three times. Lady at Falmouth university helps out. Call from Power MBA. Sounds quite good. Robert comes in to play cards. We look at slides. We do cards. I get 51/52 correct. Take car keys, slides and negatives to Asda. Get keys fixed and send slides off to be developed. Get frame and put pictures in both of them. Find nice one of mum. Put in frame. Catch up diary from Wednesday. Saturday got call re vaccine local surgery. Can’t believe double standard of accusing Nicola Sturgeon of breaking ministerial code when Johnson must have.
Tuesday 23rd March
Woke at 7.30am to do recycling from a vivid dream. Wrote it down. Went to sleep. Alarm woke at 9am. Another vivid dream. Mixture of signs of squalor Crouch End flats and socialising. I’ve music making sense of everything in one picture. Found hotel parents saw being built. Government introduced £5k fines for people going on holiday. Would like to go beginning of June. Robert things they’ll extend fines. Today’s quote “accusing other side of which you are guilty”. Realised wouldn’t accuse other side of doing it or would be doing it yourself. Wrote two blogs I’d not finished and added pictures. Wrote one on letting things happen. Sent ATI form in. Census for downstairs not me. Had to throw. They’ve got another one. Still upset by state tenants’ living conditions. Shooting in Boulder Colorado.
Wednesday 24th March
Woke at 8.30am, thought I’d slept through alarm. Noted dream on app. Went and started looking at Jersey as email said it was opening and free of UK government forms. Found deals for various places but no flights open. Had Zoom call with Verity at ATI. She froze and signal dropped. Introductory call to introduce me to the hub. Yvic from Oxford Innovation replied to suggest I updated the £18K needed if getting support from ATI. Robert wants crisps but bread mouldy and I had to eat quiche. Hope nothing going on in fridge. Thinking about boat wondering if could sail it from Castle Beach. Wander where in Cornwall family went swimming. Pic of Bodmin castle in old photo books of mum’s.
Thursday 25th March
Woke at 9am and paid for plumbing on laptop. Wrote a piece on long haulers food research. Lovely sunny day so asked Jessica if wanted to go to beach. Arranged to meet at 1pm. Cooked breakfast and checked emails. Conversation with Dad’s brothers about a picture I sent. Turns out to be Michael and Meike’s wedding. Arabella on Radio 4 with Claire Balding at 3pm.
Go to meet Jessica at Chick Pea where they do great smoothies with big plastic straws. Give me free one red one detox. Go to Gylly and sea a bit rough. Drink some wine. Go to Swanpool and sit by rocks. I go in and swim. Extremities cold. Go again. Jessica videos it. Get email from Nick at EPIC. Set call for Tuesday. Verity emails and set call for 1 April. Productive day.
