Commercial, marketing and feature writing

As someone who enjoys the act of writing, I am happy to write about anything and can find an angle and a human story in a wide range of topics to make something reader-friendly.
I’ve written for various regional newspapers and business magazines and have even been able to find interesting things to say about insurance.
Here is a link to a recent article I wrote for the West Briton. Two more food related articles are in the pipeline, so watch this space. I provide pictures for convenience with any story I write. After 5 years overseeing the photo library for a publishing company, I am very familiar with what should or should not be in a press picture.
Proof Reading and Sub-Editing
I proof-read hundreds of articles for business magazines for the insurance, personal finance, high net worth, business technology and charity business sectors between 1998 and 2002 ending up as associate editor on 14 biz mags.

The area of this work I most enjoyed was commissioning articles from experts in their fields and discussing ideas with public relations representatives for educative articles.
Magazine Launch
This helped the editor to launch a magazine for the high net worth market, for which I sourced, commissioned, edited and ghost wrote articles on wine, farmers’ markets and investment management.
Here are some examples of advertorial, marketing and copy writing
Press release writing
These are the events, people and clients that I have gained press coverage for, by writing a press release which was targeted to meet the needs of the publications that these articles appeared in.
For more information, see the Sweet Sound PR – My Services page.
Advertorial – copy writing
Here are some clients I have produced advertorial copy for. Each link will take you to the published article. If you would like to see more examples, please contact me.
Publications
Insurance – Pulling from the experience I gained in commissioning articles for business magazines, I connected up a team of experts in the insurance industry, instigated by the CII and BIBA, to produce 3 informative supplements about insurance for a consumer audience, which were distributed through the Guardian newspaper.
Issue One – Insurance Works (2009)
Issue Two – Insurance Confidence (2010)
Issue Three – Insurance Works (2010)
Lighting – I engaged the Lighting Association and other industry bodies to produce a consumer friendly guide to lighting, which was distributed with the Guardian in December, 2009.
As project manager, I was responsible for selling the advertisements and outlining story briefs for articles to be written by journalists who specialised in lighting topics.
Plastics – Working with the British Plastics Federation, I project managed a publication, that was distributed through the Guardian, called World of Plastics. I ghost wrote two of the articles in this supplement while working for Lyonsdown Media Group.

I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful
lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it
out better?

Thanks very much for your feedback. I’ll have another look and do what you suggest. I’ve not updated it for some time (no excuse) except the odd article uploaded.
I’d love to know what you think of my satire blog http://www.dairyofanonnymoose.com

I’d really like to know more about that as I use WordPress for work a lot and am not up to speed on seo at all.
thanks for letting me know it was hard to find on Google. If you can help in anyway, I’d be interested to hear about it.
