I have just launched Sweet Sound PR and my specialism is in getting editorial in the press for any client by finding ‘the story’ to write press releases as journalist reportage to maximise exposure at the lowest cost (without advertising) and therefore boosting credibility. Links to many examples are on this website.

My main client is Matchbox Recordings as their radio, press and online PR manager, I completed a campaign for Eyes for Gertrude and just started work for Scrumpstock. I will be doing publicity for Glen Maney’s Edinburgh Preview in Falmouth on 5 June and more clients are in pipeline.

As a writer in general.

As a journalist, I have written features and other short forms including some satirical column writing, social and political themes, which I am developing in a blog. I have written comedy sketches and a few short plays.

Performing
I also did a spot of acting for Falmouth film students, in a comedy sketch and was in an episode of Derren Brown. (Miracles for Sale).

A non-fiction book filled with my (what is sometimes, but increasingly less so subject to evidence and press stories) controversial theories on how to avoid being bullied now forms a blog How to be Bullyproof.

An Education

A painting I sold in 1994My degree, for which I studied in London and one ´semester´in Los Angeles, was in fine and commercial art. This included advertising, marketing, graphic design, history of art and painting. I emerged with a 2:1. During this time, I produced a poster campaign for Oxfam and instigated an art college magazine, drawing a multi-national team together. I exhibited 30 paintings in oil and acrylic, plus charcoal drawings in Lauderdale House, Highgate, in 1994 and sold seven paintings on the opening night (see picture – left). I have participated in group exhibitions with an art group – Artmarkit – and helped publicise our exploits.

In 1997, I completed a postgraduate certificate in periodical journalism at the London College of Communication, after which I gained work in editorial at a business magazine publishing company. I started promoting bands in various London venues around this time.
